A Proud History

Established as White Western Star in Kelowna, British Columbia in 1967 by White Motor Co., the company commenced the construction of a manufacturing plant in Kelowna B.C. response to the demands of the West Coast U.S. and Canadian vocational truck markets. The enterprise began by custom building Class 8 trucks for logging, mining and oil and gas exploration. During the next decade, the company expanded into providing highway trucks for owner operators. In 1981 two Calgary, resource-based companies purchased the assets and changed the name of the company to Western Star Trucks Inc.

In 1991, Australia-based Terrence E. Peabody incorporated Western Star Trucks Holdings Ltd., that acquired and dramatically improved the product development and manufacturing capabilities of the company.

In 2000, Western Star Trucks Holdings Ltd. was acquired by Freightliner LLC. As a separate division, Western Star Trucks will continue to build high-quality, custom built trucks.
